Independence to Host Rindside World Championships

Independence, MO – July 22, 2013 --- For the first time in several years Independence will host the Ringside World Championships amateur boxing tournament.

The Lenexa-based retailer of boxing and MMA equipment, Combat Brands will hold its 13t h Annual Ringside World Championships Tournament at Independence Events Center, July 31 through August 3.

“This is a very thrilling sporting event for the town of Independence,” say Cori Day, Executive Director of the City of Independence Department of Tourism. “The Independence Events Center is the perfect venue to accommodate 5,800 spectators in a comfortable and exciting atmosphere.”

The amateur boxing tournament will bring more than 4,000 boxers, attendees, exhibitors, and industry professionals to the Eastern Jackson County region. This competition typically draws athletes from around the globe and provides the largest competitive opportunity for amateur boxers in the world. Held over four days, Ringside World Championships consist of six rings, seven sessions, 1,500 athlete entries and over 1,000 bouts.

Competition will consist of two daily sessions, at 11 AM and at 6 PM, Wednesday through Friday. Championship bouts begin at 11 AM on Saturday. Every session will have six boxing rings. Tickets will be available, cash only, at the Silverstein Eye Centers Box Office at the Independence Events Center, at 10:30 AM or thirty minutes prior to doors opening Wednesday through Saturday during the competition. General Admission is $5.00 per session or $20.00 for an all-tournament pass; children under 13 are admitted free. Advertised prices may be subject to additional fees.
