The Midwest’s Largest Junior Golf Tournament Set to Return for the 43rd Year in August

The City of Overland Park, Kansas is proud to again host the area’s best, and largest junior golf tournament – the Everett Vinzant/John Cosnotti Memorial Junior Golf Tournament.

Overland Park, Kansas July 23, 2013 - - On the first Monday of August, well over 400 junior golfers and their families will descend upon the Sykes Lady (Overland Park) Golf Club for a three-day junior golf event. The Everett Vinzant/John Cosnotti Memorial Junior Golf Tournament, which has become a special tradition for many golfing families across the region, provides the junior golfers sole focus and full access to a facility which would ordinarily be serving up to 600 rounds of public golf each day. Juniors enjoy the opportunity to learn, compete, and meet new friends each day of competition.

Golf is often referred to as the “game of a lifetime,” and that sentiment was certainly reflected in the wishes of the tournament founders, Everett Vinzant and John Cosnotti, when in 1971 they aimed to create an event where juniors could be positively introduced to the game while creating lifetime memories. The dedication of these men provided the City of Overland Park the catalyst to continue the growth of junior golf opportunities to become what is today one of the most expansive junior golf programs in the area.

The staff at Sykes Lady Golf Club is working hard to ensure that the 2013 tournament is a highlight of the summer for the junior golfers and their families. They are seeking volunteers to help score the tournament, monitor sportsmanship, and encourage the pace of play.

Registration for junior participants is filling fast, but some space is still available. The registration deadline is Friday, July 26th, and all entry fees must be paid by Monday, July 29th. Please go to for more information, or contact the Sykes Lady Pro Shop at (913) 897-3809.
