Missouri Vietnam Veteran, Tommy Capps, Finalist in the American Military Hero of the Year

Dear Editor:

My husband, Tommy Capps is one of five finalist in the American Military Hero of the Year contest sponsored by the Army, Air-Force Exchange Services and Dickies. The web site is: http://www.militaryhero.com You can go to the site and read my winning entry of Tommy's biography. There is only 14 days left to vote, as the winner is determined by online voting. I would be most grateful if you could publish this in the Sedalia Democrat.

Below is what our son, Dustin Dunklee posted to face book. I am also attaching Tommy's military picture taken in Saigon, Vietnam and Dustin's picture taken in Kuwait. You can also visit the Missouri National Guard web site where our son Dustin Dunklee has inspired a posting. Dustin is also the Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney and just finished a year deployment in Kuwait as a Cpt. in the 35th Combat Aviation Brigade.

I want to share two photos that will explain why I'm asking everyone to plea...se go vote. Attached is a the full photo of the awards Tom received in Vietnam and a few items that he brought back. But pay special attention to the second photo that explains why he received the Army Commendation Medal. In short, Tom and a few others took on an entire Viet Cong guerrilla platoon because they couldn't get back to warn the platoon in the rear.

I got an Army Commendation Medal for showing up for a deployment. Tom got the same award for saving his platoons life! He deserved more so please take a few minutes to visit the link and vote.See More
