Joseph Rosendo of PBS’ Travelscope to appear at August benefit
Joseph Rosendo, host of the award-winning program Travelscope on PBS will speak on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 6:30 pm, at Unity Temple on the Plaza, as a benefit for the Books That Build Bridges library collection campaign. “Travel as a Life-Changing Experience” will draw on his many years of travel and cultural exploration across the planet. Mr. Rosendo explains that the mission of Travelscope is “to introduce people to people and to serve up thoughtful and entertaining content….our goal continues to be to create work that contributes towards making a positive difference on the planet.”
Because all proceeds from the event benefit the Books That Build Bridges campaign, the $20 tickets are tax-deductible. Tickets may be purchased at Aquarius, 3936 Broadway, Kansas City, MO, online at http://travelscope-kansascity.brownpapertickets.com or at the door.
The Books That Build Bridges campaign, initiated by Cultural Crossroads, Inc., will establish the Spirit of Man library collection, which will contain multifaith and multicultural materials for circulation, available to the public, and provide a central repository of interfaith materials for educators. The collection will be housed in a centrally-located, publicly-accessible venue.
Joseph Rosendo appears at major events like the New York Times Travel Show and TEDx and leads seminars throughout the country; more information about Travelscope can be found at http://www.travelscope.net. The program is broadcast on local PBS affiliate KCPT-TV. This event is a first-time, unique opportunity for Kansas City to enjoy a world-class presentation by this major figure in travel and world culture.
The event is co-sponsored by Cultural Crossroads, Inc., Unity Temple on the Plaza, the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council, KCPT-TV, Ten Thousand Villages, and The Raphael Hotel.
