Tom Smith in concert at the Uptown Arts Bar
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 12, 2013
Tom Smith in Concert at the Uptown Arts Bar
Tom Smith, hailed as one of the most truly unique and talented composition and finger styling musical artists in the United States (GuitarNation, National Traditional Country Music Association), will appear in concert at the Uptown Arts Bar, Monday, July 22, 2013 from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m.
Using both his music, and stories from an eventful life, Tom Smith’s performances take his audience through a sensory experience filled with mythical imaginings, flower scented Latin nights, into darker, more mysterious imagings. His style shows the influences of Jazz, Country, Classical, Blues and contemporary guitarists, while obviously unique unto itself. Tom has performed in thirty states and three countries from small venues to audiences of ten thousand. He has performed on PBS, and shared the stage with such artists as John Hammond Jr., Odetta, Livingston Taylor, Melanie, Tuck and Patti, Michael Hedges, Robin Ford, Dave Van Ronk, Jesse Winchester, John Fahey and Todd Phillips. Tom has six records, “Still Life”, “Musical Pictures”, “Little Dog”, “On Any Given Night”, “Juliet’s Window” and “Jack Rabbit”(featuring some spoken word selections) on Lone Oak Publications.
The Uptown Arts Bar is a community bar which celebrates the performing arts with emphasis on theater, dance, comedy, original prose/poetry, storytelling, the spoken word, music, political discourse, puppetry, as well as cultural groups and the historic urban core community.
