Drum Corps International’s Summer Music Games Returns to Kansas City

The Colts Youth Organization, the Olathe Northwest High School Band Boosters, and Drum Corps International (DCI) are pleased to present the Kansas City Brass Impact drum & bugle corps show on Monday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m. The show will be held at the College Boulevard Activities Center in Olathe, Kansas. Seven units will perform, including the two-time Drum Corps International World Champion Madison Scouts from Madison, Wisconsin. Also appearing are the Colts from Dubuque, Iowa; the Boston Crusaders from Boston, Massachusetts; the Blue Knights from Denver, Colorado; the Crossmen from San Antonio, Texas; the Cascades from Seattle, Washington; and the Colt Cadets from Dubuque, Iowa.

The Colts Drum & Bugle Corps was founded in 1963 and in recent years has placed among DCI’s Top 12 seven times. The Colts are comprised of 150 marching members, a staff of more than 30, and hundreds of volunteers. The Colts Youth Organization also supports the Colt Cadets, an “Open Class” corps that includes young people ages 12 to 17. The Colts are sponsoring Kansas City Brass Impact in partnership with the Olathe Northwest High School Band Boosters.

The 2013 Colts roster includes members from the University of Kansas, the University of Missouri, Emporia State University, and Johnson County Community College. Colts membership this year also includes students from Olathe Northwest, DeSoto, Shawnee Mission South, Shawnee Mission North, and Lawrence-Free State High Schools on the Kansas side. On the Missouri side, Colts members hail from Lee’s Summit, Grandview, Savannah, and Camdenton High Schools.
