Allied Arts Council celebrates 50 years

ST. JOSEPH, MO— The Allied Arts Council celebrates 50 years and honors past and present members as it celebrates 50 years of bringing arts and people together. The celebration, which includes the annual meeting and Mayor’s Awards for the Arts, is July 18 at The Benton Club, 402 N. 7th, St. Joseph, MO 64501. Arts patrons are invited to celebrate the arts and honor those who make the arts great in St. Joseph. Cocktails begin at 5:30 with dinner at 6:15. Tickets are $50.00 per person. The Annual Meeting includes a recap of the Allied Arts Council’s programs and election of Board of Directors. The nominating committee presents the following nominative slate:

The evening closes with the Council honoring this year’s Mayor’s Awards for the Arts nominees and recipients. “The Mayor’s Awards for the Arts encourage citizens to express themselves in areas that create culture and opportunities to experience an event, whether by participating or enjoying a relaxing evening being entertained," said Mayor Bill Falkner. ? The Allied Arts Council was organized in 1963 to provide service to St. Joseph area arts organizations, artists, and the general public. The Council has since grown into a federation of sixteen arts agencies and now produces community arts programs, raises funds, promotes public awareness, and provides service and support to its member agencies. The Allied Arts Council seeks to make St. Joseph a better place to live through the arts, and its mission is to provide leadership and support for the arts and to its member organizations.
