2nd Annual Running of the BULL-e-Vard Pub Crawl & Concert
2nd Annual Running of the BULL-e-Vard Pub Crawl & Concert The Kansas City Crossroads Community comes together for charity
The Crossroads community will again come together this July for the 2nd Annual Running of the BULL-e-Vard Pub Crawl & Concert on Saturday, July 13th from 2:00pm-Midnight. Unlike other pub crawls in the city, this crawl will include 14 locally owned bars and restaurants and coincides with the official running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. This event brings together all those in the community who love the uniqueness of the Kansas City Crossroads area; the people, the local flavor and the vibe. It is a celebration of food, drinks, and music all to benefit the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
Beginning at La Bodega on the Boulevard, “The Orginale”, at 2:00pm and ending with a concert at Crossroads KC at Grinders music venue with local band, Making Movies. The proceeds from this year’s pub crawl and concert will benefit the Pulmonary Hypertension Association at the University of Kansas Medical Center, an organization that hits close to home for the La Bodega community. Pulmonary Hypertension is a rare lung disorder in which the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the lungs become constrained, making it difficult for blood to move through the vessels. One of the La Bodega’s own is currently suffering from this condition; therefore proceeds from the pub crawl and concert will go to support the fight against this life threatening disease.
In the spirit of Spanish culture, the pub crawl will begin at the authentic La Bodega on The Boulevard at 1pm with food, drinks and special guest, DJ Malaka, which will kick start the overall event. At 2pm, pub-crawlers “passport” will be good at all 14 establishments providing them discounted Boulevard Beer and Tito’s Vodka and food specials. Participating establishments are La Bodega, Grinders, Grinders West, Nica’s 320, Rhythm & Booze, Extra Virgin, Snow & Co., Grunauer, Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen, The Jacobson, Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop, Hamburger Mary’s and The Cashew. Tickets for the event include a post pub crawl concert beginning at 7:00pm until Midnight featuring the sounds of local band, Making Movies.
Tickets or “Passports” can be purchased at any of the participating locations for $12 prior to the event, $15 online, or $20 day. Tickets include a BULL-e-Vard t-shirt, Boulevard Beer Bandana, bull mask, as well as entrance into the concert at Grinders. Two trolleys will be running throughout the area to take people from one location to another – so please, crawl responsibly. 2013 sponsors include Alice 102, Red Bull, Studio Tilt, Boulevard Beer, Ink Magazine, SocialWrx, Yelp, Pepsi, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. Red Bull will be handing out samples as a way to keep participants energized, and Pepsi will be handing out bottled water to keep them cool and hydrated.
