“Summer Sounds in the Park” Concert Series at Leawood’s Park Place Features Free Summer Fun for All Ages

Outdoor Concerts Feature Kansas City’s Finest Local and Regional Musicians and a Children’s “Park Place Play Zone” Every Thursday

LEAWOOD, Kan. (May 20, 2013) – With summer just around the corner, Park Place is excited to provide free outdoor entertainment for its guests of all ages with its weekly “Summer Sounds in the Park” Concert Series in Barkley Square. Leawood’s burgeoning development is offering a variety of music genres for this summer’s lineup, creating a fun Thursday evening out each week for the entire family. “Summer Sounds in the Park” will offer a musical line-up featuring the most popular hits from current to classic in country rock, irresistible dance music, adult contemporary and pop. New this year will be the “Park Place Play Zone” featuring children’s arts, crafts, games and activities provided by The Learning Tree in June and Bambini Creativi in July along with face painting, balloon magicians, glitter tattoos and more provided by Renewal by Anderson Windows. Park Place Play Zone is available every week in Barkley Square during the summer concerts.

In addition to enjoying the concerts from the outdoor patios of the many surrounding restaurants, Park Place retailers are also extending their hours of operation so guests are able to shop later into the evening. The new Park Place retailer hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. However, on event evenings such as “Summer Sounds in the Park,” many retailers will remain open until 8:00 p.m. The new retailer hours will take effect on May 1.

EVENT: “Summer Sounds in the Park” feature the most popular hits of classic to SUMMARY: current songs performed by Kansas City’s finest local and regional musicians.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES: “Park Place Play Zone” featuring children’s arts, crafts, games and activities provided by The Learning Tree in June and Bambini Creativi in July along with face painting, balloon magicians, glitter tattoos and more provided by Renewal by Anderson Windows.
Dine in or enjoy a cool beverage at the many outdoor restaurant patios surrounding Barkley Square. Shop before, during or after the live concerts at Park Place’s specialty shops and boutiques.

7/4 - Red Guitar (transcendent melodic rock music) Park Place Play Zone to feature activities by Bambini Creativi, a glitter tattoo artist and balloon artist.

7/11 - The Shanks (classic to current) Park Place Play Zone to feature activities by Bambini Creativi, a face painter and balloon artist.

7/18 - Rattle and Hum (premier U2 tribute band) Park Place Play Zone to feature activities by Bambini Creativi, a face painter and balloon artist.

7/25 – Children’s Musicians: Peanut Butter Hamster (5-6pm), Rockin Rob (6-7pm), Peanut Butter Hamster (7-8pm) Park Place Play Zone to feature activities by Bambini Creativi, a face painter and balloon artist.
