Local Sports Miracle

Overland Park, Kansas, : A local 16 and under AAU boys basketball team qualified for AAU National Championships last weekend at AAU Districts Championships played at Levo Sports Gym in Kansas City. The Team, The Kansas City Flight, consists of players from Bishop Miege and Blue Springs High schools. They are all in 10th grade. It came down to a last game miracle during last weekend’s tournament. They needed to beat the Columbia Warriors by a large margin in order to win the tie breaking criteria. During the tournament, The Flight only averaged 53 points per game and needed to score more than 80 points in their last game to have a chance to qualify for Nationals. They beat the Warriors 82-62 and are heading to Orlando Florida in July to compete with the other district championship teams from all across the country at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The Kansas City Flight is looking for sponsors to help with the team’s travel expenses. They are a “non for profit” organization and all sponsorship and donated funds are all tax deductible. The team will list sponsors on their website, travel banners, and uniforms.
