Annual Free Fishing Weekend at JCPRD parks is June 1 & 2
The Johnson County Park & Recreation District has established the weekend of Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, as the 2013 annual Free Fishing Weekend in district parks. This will coincide with the state of Kansas' "Free Fishing Days" in State Parks. The Saturday portion of the event also coincides with the JCPRD's Day in the Park event at Shawnee Mission, Heritage, and Kill Creek parks.

Fishing, boating, and archery permits will be waived on these days in the district parks where these activities are normally allowed as follows:

ANTIOCH PARK, 6501 Antioch, Merriam Fishing KILL CREEK PARK, 11670 Homestead Lane, Olathe Fishing & Boating HERITAGE PARK, 16050 Pflumm Road, Olathe Fishing & Boating SHAWNEE MISSION PARK, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee/Lenexa Fishing, Boating & Archery STREAMWAY PARKS, Various Access Points Fishing, Boating THOMAS S. STOLL MEMORIAL PARK, 12500 W. 119th St., Overland Park Fishing
Fishing permits have also been waived by the state of Kansas for this weekend, allowing fishing without a state license as well. Regular park hours for most parks for these days are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Exceptions are Antioch Park, which closes at 10 p.m., and the Streamway and Stoll parks, which are open from dawn to dusk. This event is the only time each year license requirements are waived. For more information, call (913) 888-4713.
