Express Employment Professionals Puts 13,000 Kansans And Missourans To Work, Expands Operations
(Kansas City, Mo.) -- Parkville residents Jerry and Jill Hickey will launch an Express Employment Professionals franchise in Kansas City on Tuesday, May 28 as part of a development deal adding several locations across Platte and Clay counties over the next few years. The new office, to be located at 1901 Swift Ave.in North Kansas City, will serve the entirety of Northland Kansas City area. .
The franchise agreement is part of a nationwide expansion campaign for Express that will add 48 new locations in 2013. In the Kansas City metro area, additional target markets include new franchise owners in downtown and east Kansas City, Mo., including Lee Summit and Independence, as well as Overland Park, Kan.
Prior to joining Express Employment Professionals, Jill was a popular mom blogger with her own online radio talk show, and Jerry was a manager in the pharmaceutical industry with 20 years of experience. The couple had always wanted to own a business of their own, and when they learned about Express, the nation’s largest privately-held staffing firm, they felt their combined skill sets made it a strong fit.
“It is really easy to talk yourself out of taking risks. A lot of people wait for the ‘right time,’ but there never is going to be a perfect time to take on any new venture. It is about having confidence,” Jill said. “We would never have done it if it was not a good fit, and the more we learned about Express Employment Professionals – a staffing agency with a longstanding reputation for success – the more confident we became that it was the right opportunity for us.”
To help fund their franchise, the Hickeys took advantage of the Express “30K for 30” campaign, in which franchisees in 2013 receive $30,000 of working capital toward their business in celebration of Express Employment Professionals 30th anniversary.
“Although we were already leaning toward Express, the 30K for 30 incentive made the decision that much easier,” Jill said. “I think the incentive says a lot about the type of organization Express Employment Professionals is and the confidence they have in the market, and the success of their model. We'll definitely be putting the $30K to good use!"
Currently, the Hickeys are in the process of hiring two initial full-time staff members to work in the Kansas City office, but expect to add more once the business grows.
In addition to the Hickey’s new location, Express has 16 other Missouri franchise locations and 10 in Kansas that collectively put more than 13,000 people to work in 2012.
Since Express Employment Professionals was founded in 1983, the company has grown to more than 600 offices in three countries. Express helped an estimated 367,000 people across the country find jobs last year through evaluation hire, temporary staffing, professional search and human resources.
