UMKC National Society of Black Engineers 2nd Annual Youth Minority Engineering Night - Co hosted by Kauffman Scholars Inc.

Community outreach initiative designed to raise the awareness of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) degree fields and career opportunities within the industry

The National Society of Black Engineers at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, along with the Kauffman Scholars, Inc. will be hosting the 2nd Annual NSBE Youth Minority Engineering night May 13th , 2013 from 6-9pm at the Kauffman Conference Center 4801 Rockhill Rd, KCMO 64110. The purpose of this event is to educate local minority high school students about the importance of pursuing S.T.E.M. degree fields in college and striving for challenging career opportunities within the S.T.E.M. industry.

The event will consist of the following: -Keynote address from Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II, U.S. House of Representatives and a inspirational speech from Jose Pires, Associate President and Director of Business Excellence at Black & Veatch
-Presentations/workshops from some of the nation’s most prestigious engineering companies – (Black & Veatch, Cerner Corporation, Honeywell FM&T and HNTB) -Current UMKC NSBE collegiate panel -College readiness workshop for parents

This event is FREE for high school students to attend, along with only one parent/guardian. Registration is currently open to the public, but seats are limited.
