Crossroads Academy Artists Take Flight, a First Friday Student Art Gallery

KANSAS CITY, MO –– On Friday, May 3rd, in a First Friday event co-hosted by Crossroads Academy and The Roasterie, 190 pieces of Crossroads Academy student art work will be displayed in The Roasterie’s new Café and Bean Hanger. This unique First Friday art display will celebrate the ingenuity and creativity of Kansas City’s urban youth.

Friday, May 3rd 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. The Roasterie Café and Bean Hanger 1204 W. 27th Street

Crossroads Academy’s Downtown location is one of its greatest assets. Since opening on September 4, 2012, filled to capacity with 190 students, the civic, artistic and cultural riches of the Downtown neighborhood have become virtual extensions of its urban campus. Recess at Barney Allis Plaza, weekly visits to the Central Library, meeting Mayor James at City Hall, Alvin Ailey at The Folly Theater, “Prairie Logic” sculpture installation and a 4th grade dance fellowship at the Kansas City Ballet – these are just a few of the ways in which the city comes alive for Crossroads Academy students, and students bring new life to the city.

Admission to Artists Take Flight is free. Light appetizers and drinks will be served from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. For more event information please visit artiststakeflight.eventbrite.com/.
