New Severe Weather Preparedness program class offered for adults on April 3

The Midwest has its share of unpredictable weather each year. A new free program being offered by the Johnson County's Emergency Management Team, in conjunction with the Johnson County Park & Recreation District can help you be prepared.

Severe Weather Preparedness is the name of this program, which is for ages 18 and older. Participants will review what to do in case of lightning, tornados, flash flooding, and other major weather events. The program will conclude with a look at a personal preparedness kit to give an idea of what you should have on hand for these unpredictable situations. This is a great opportunity to ask questions of experts and make sure you and your family are prepared.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under adult and then under hobbies & special interests. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword "safety.”

This program will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood, Roeland Park. This 90-minute program is free, but those interested in participating are to register in advance for the program.

The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the district's website at www.jcprd.com.
