Kansas City, Missouri – March 4, 2013 Spay & Neuter Kansas City will hold an off-site vaccination clinic for dogs or cats on Saturday morning, March 9th at the Westside CAN Center located at 2130-B Jefferson Street, Kansas City MO 64108. The clinic will run from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, so plan to arrive early. Dogs need to be on leashes and cats should be in a carrier. SNKC is offering a special TLC package at the Westside CAN Center clinic and at their main clinic located at 1116 E. 59th Street, KCMO 64110 (northeast corner of 59th St. and Troost). The TLC Package has a Rabies Vaccination, a microchip and a KCMO City License, all for $30 for fixed animals and $40 if the animal is not spayed or neutered. Other vaccinations for cats and dogs will also be available at a cost of $10 per vaccination. If purchased separately, a microchip is just $10 and a KCMO pet license is $12.

The purpose of the TLC Program that began in January, 2013 is to help owners identify and find their lost pets. Only a very small percentage of lost pets entering our area shelters are identified and manage to find their way back to their home. To increase the probability that a pet owner can be reunited with a lost pet, it is essential to ensure that the pet has a rabies tag and city license on its collar. And if by chance the pet loses its collar or didn’t have the collar on when it escaped, a microchip is vital. The shelter or any veterinarian can scan the animal for the microchip that is a small chip implanted under the pet’s skin. With the information on the chip, the owner can quickly be located and advised where to find the lost loved-one.

Spay & Neuter Kansas City is a 501C3 nonprofit organization formed to promote spaying and neutering as a primary means of decreasing pet overpopulation. Through education and provision of resources, their goal is to keep animals out of our shelters and improve their quality of life.
