The American Board, an education 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is hosting a series of events in Belton and the greater Kansas City region about an opportunity for local career changers. The American Board offers a state-sanctioned route to professional educator licensure through an innovative, online teacher certification program designed for professionals without education studies backgrounds. Those who possess a Bachelor’s degree in their respective fields and a desire to become a teacher are encouraged to attend to find out how they can bring their passion and dedication to the classrooms that need them most.

As a teacher, one has the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community while building a rewarding, new career. In Missouri alone, there are reported teacher shortages in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, all of which The American Board is capable of certifying. With an average age of 39, American Board candidates are highly invested in their communities, which may account for the 85% retention rate of American Board teachers over their first three years, compared to 67% nationwide. Additionally, 95% of surveyed principals rated American Board teachers to be as effective or more effective than their peers.

There will be free information sessions about the American Board teacher certification program throughout the month of March in Belton and the greater Kansas City metropolitan region. Interested parties should visit to register in advance, as space is limited. Contact:, (816) 866-7452.
