Black Marriage Day

On March 17, 2013 Kansas City, Mocha Moms, Inc. in conjunction with Black Marriage Day (www.BlackMarriageDay.com) announces an initiative in Kansas City, MO on March 17,2013. Black Marriage Day is an ongoing national effort to encourage marriage in underserved communities. In Kansas City, MO, local organizations are working together to kick off the 2nd Annual Spaghetti Dinner and Conference. This event will be held at the Lucile H. Bluford Library, 3050 Prospect Ave, Kansas City, MO 64128 from 1pm-5pm. $25 donation/couple

Black Marriage Day has been working in communities all over the country approaching a decade. Spokespeople have included Anthony Kevin "Tony" Dungy, a former professional American football player and coach in the National Football League. Founder, Nisa Islam has been featured on CNN’s ‘Black in America’, the Tavis Smiley Show, Essence Magazine, The Huffington Post, Jet Magazine and more.

Black Marriage Day offers a free “Marriage Tool Kit” on www.BlackMarriageDay.com.
Mecca Donna, staff with Black Marriage Day says “Marriage rates in the African American community are at an all-time low. Marriage contributes to the overall wellness and vitality of underserved communities. By encouraging marriage we are rebuilding the fabric of minority families and strengthening American society at large. Marriage works.”

Join a celebration and national campaign to recognize marriage, encourage healthy relationships, lower divorce rates, and benefit families through the institution of marriage.
