Unity One Credit expands to Kansas City!

Unity One Credit Union, ranked eighth among financial cooperatives in Fort Worth according to the FW Business Press, acquired Argentine Credit Union of Kansas City, KS in February. The credit union gained about $19 million in assets and close to 1,900 members due to the union, bringing Unity One’s asset size to over $212 million.

Since 1932, Argentine has been serving individuals and their immediate family members of Johnson and Wyandotte counties within the state of Kansas. New Unity One members can now take advantage of the credit union's no monthly fees for savings and checking accounts and enhanced e-services, convenience and borrowing options.Unity One Kansas City

Bill Barnes, a brand new Unity One member, said on Unity One's Facebook page, "Brand new KC customer! Impressed so far, especially with the speed my debit card was delivered."

With this merger, Unity One added one full-time branch and four staff members. The Kansas City location will work cohesively with the credit union's six branches located in Fort Worth, TX and St. Paul, MN.

According to Unity One COO Scott Ward, the contact center increased by 40 percent the week after the merger to meet increased support demands and reduce wait times.

He said, "Hopefully, this made our new members feel better about the change and at home with Unity One."

Celebrating its 86th birthday in March, Unity One Credit Union has ties to the railroad industry, and its headquarters sits on the BNSF Railway Campus in north Fort Worth. In the late 90s the credit union expanded its field of membership to welcome non-railroad individuals, and to date, Unity One has over 24,000 members.

About Unity One Credit Union Established in 1927, Unity One Credit Union is the oldest credit union in Texas. A member-driven and not-for-profit cooperative, Unity One CU served the employees and families of the BNSF Railway for 70 years. However, after transferring its corporate headquarters to Fort Worth in 1998, the credit union expanded its field of membership to include other non-railroad companies, organizations and individuals.

Today, anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the following Texas cities: Fort Worth, Blue Mound, Saginaw, Haslet, Keller, Colleyville, Bedford, North Richland Hills, Southlake; St. Paul, MN and now Kansas City may apply for membership. Unity One CU has seven branches to serve over 24,000 members nationwide. The credit union is also a part of the CU Service Centers network, making credit union banking convenient no matter the location.
