Celebrate St. Pat's Day with the Spirit of Independence Band

Make it a family-friendly St. Patrick's Day by attending The Spirit of Independence Concert Band's free Spring Concert Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 3:00 pm, in the William Chrisman High School Auditorium.

The 60-member community band, conducted by area musician and educator Danny Lane, will perform an hour-long program featuring special music for St. Patrick's Day. Featured will be medleys of Irish folk songs and other holiday favorites such as "The Irish Washerwoman" and "Danny Boy." The band will also perform "St. Louis Blues," light numbers, and marches.

Now in its 16th season, The Spirit of Independence Concert Band performs year-round at various locales. In addition to a series of indoor concerts, they are regular performers at the Independence July 4th celebration, the Independence Mayor's Christmas Concert, the Bingham-Waggoner Estate Craft Fair, the Vaile Mansion Strawberry Festival, and other area events. Members range from high school and college students to retirees.

William Chrisman High School is located at the intersection of 24 Highway and Noland Road, in Independence. Admission to the concert is free.
