The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City turns 10! Celebrates with community-wide anniversary party

Kansas City, Mo. (Feb. 18, 2013)—The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City (FX) is celebrating 10 years of helping freelancers find their way, and helping clients find the talent they need.

On Thursday, March 7, the professional trade organization will host a community-wide 10-year anniversary party to commemorate its achievements, members, volunteers, and supporters. The event will be held at Howl at the Moon, in the Power & Light District, at 1334 Grand Blvd., Kansas City Mo. It begins at 5:00 p.m. with dueling piano entertainment at 7:00 p.m. Cost is free for current members and $10 for nonmembers. Entry includes appetizers, one drink ticket, cash bar, networking and live entertainment. Sponsorships are available and RSVPs are requested.

“We started the club in 2003 with the idea that us freelancers were all in the same boat … that we could really benefit from meeting and learning from one another,” says FX Founder, Julie Cortes. “What’s transpired since then has been absolutely amazing. The club continues to grow in quality membership and reach to the business community, and we’re very much looking forward to what the next 10 years will bring.”

FX provides a network of support and a friendly atmosphere for those who are self-employed in the advertising/marketing industry. Members include graphic designers, copywriters, photographers, account managers, media buyers/planners, illustrators, videographers and more. Regular luncheon programs are held throughout the year in addition to happy hours and the annual Portfolio Showcase, in which members can exhibit their work samples and meet prospective clients.

The club also provides advertising agencies, design firms, large corporations and small businesses with an easy-to-use and free resource to find talent. Over the last 10 years, hundreds of clients have come to FX to help them with their advertising and marketing needs. They do this through the club’s searchable membership database and portfolios, the printed membership directory, as well as the Portfolio Showcase.

The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City is a not-for-profit organization of professional freelancers within advertising and marketing disciplines. The organization began in 2003 and has since grown into the premier resource for freelance talent in Kansas City. FX provides its members an environment in which to network, collaborate, refer business, and learn best practices, all essential to growing its members’ businesses, and the community as a whole.
