Melton Classes Begin on March 3

The Kansas City Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning announces two courses, both scheduled to begin on Sunday, March 3rd. Rabbi Scott White will teach Beyond Borders, the History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict. Classes will be held from 10:30-noon at Congregation Ohev Shalom, 5311 West 75th Street, Prairie Village KS 66208. This course draws on primary source materials (speeches, government documents, newspaper articles, memoirs, etc.) to enable students to increase their knowledge and understanding of all sides of the conflict, especially its complexity. Students are encouraged to come to their own opinions and conclusions; no single point of view is advocated. The registration fee is $250.

Michal Cahlon, Chair of the Upper School Jewish Studies Department at the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, will teach Shemot I: From Slavery to Sinai, beginning on Sunday, March 3rd from 10:30-noon. Classes will be held at the Hebrew Academy, 5801 West 115th Street, Overland Park KS 66211. This course draws on the perspectives of commentators from ancient to modern periods to enable participants to delve deeply and meaningfully into the second book of Torah. The registration fee is $180.
