March 1 is early registration deadline for Spring Youth Basketball League

March 1 is the early bird registration deadline for a Spring Basketball League being offered for grades two through 12 by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

This league will take place at the New Century Fieldhouse, 551 New Century Parkway, just off Interstate 35 near Gardner, and is designed for team registrations. Individuals seeking teams may complete an individual recruitment form and while attempts will be made to place the individual on a team, placement is not guaranteed.

League play will begin the week of April 8. All grade levels are guaranteed six games. Players in grades two through four will play four 10-minute quarters. Grades five and six will play 12-minute halves, while grades seven and eight will play 14-minute halves. High school teams will play 20-minute halves.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under leagues and then under youth and then under sports. In the printed catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “basketball.”

The fee is $375 per team prior to the March 1 deadline. After that date, the fee increases to $425 per team. The final deadline is March 8. For more information, visit or call (913) 826-2850. A multi-team discount of 10 percent is also offered for each additional team registered by the same person.

The JCPRD Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For updated program listings, see the district’s website at
