FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 5, 2013

Prairie Village, KS – Ash Wednesday is a day when Christians prepare for the Lenten journey of 40 days of prayer, self-denial and personal spiritual growth so that they might more fully experience the Easter resurrection of new life. Asbury United Methodist in Prairie Village is starting that journey a little earlier than usual. From 7:00 to 9:00 am the local church located at the corner of 75th and Nall is offering a drive through Ash Wednesday Service.

“We recognize that people lead very busy lives and attending an hour long service that day may not work with their schedules,” said Rev. Gayla Rapp, Senior Pastor at Asbury United Methodist Church. “The Drive-Through Ash Wednesday Service is our way of providing every opportunity we can for people to experience the beginning of this most holy season in the church.”

Anyone interested in participating in this service is asked to enter the church parking lot from the west entrance, nearest Nall. The procession of vehicles will loop near their Office/West Sanctuary Entrance, where the ashes will be imposed without having to leave your own vehicle.

Asbury United Methodist will also have more traditional Ash Wednesday services at 12:00 pm in their Chapel and 7:00 pm in their Sanctuary.
