Lettering Artist to present a Slide Lecture and Workshop

The Kansas City Letter Arts Exchange (KCLAX) will present a lecture and slide show by California lettering artist Carl Rohrs on Friday, February 15, from 6:30 pm till 9 pm at the Matt Ross Community Center, 8101 Marty, in Overland Park, Kansas. Mr Rohrs has taught lettering and design at Cabrillo College in California since 1984. His vibrant, contemporary work includes calligraphy with pen and brush, as well as sign painting and graffiti stylings. Admission to the lecture is free for KCLAX members; a donation of $10 is requested from non-members. On the following Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17, Mr. Rohrs will give a workshop on lettering in traditional and modern styles with flat pen, pointed brush, and ruling pen; at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, 11411 Pflumm Road, in Overland Park. The workshop will run from 9 am till 4 pm both days, with a daily break for lunch. Attendees are responsible for their own meals. Cost of the workshop is $125 for KCLAX members and $150 for non-members.
