Generations Join Together to Serve Community
Christ the King School students will join older adult volunteers to package meals for the homebound and perform other acts of service on Monday, January 28, 2013.
In observance of Catholic Schools Week in Kansas City, students in kindergarten through eighth grade will also work with seniors to create Valentine’s Day cards, offer entertainment, and clean and organize the recreation space.
The Senior Center, operated by Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, Inc., is located in the parish hall at Christ the King Church, 8510 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri. The day of service begins at 9:00 a.m.
The center delivers nearly 450 hot meals to the homebound each week, while offering recreational, social, and educational programs to all people over age 60.
Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, a nationally accredited 501c3 organization, exists for no other reason than to help people in need during their most challenging moments, assisting people of all ages and from all walks of life. The agency has provided hope and help in our community for more than 133 years, caring for the vulnerable, honoring the life and dignity of all persons and engaging the community to provide compassionate social services and advocacy.
