Seth Johnson Opens at Rockhurst’s Greenlease Gallery

Seth Johnson will present a collection of paintings, drawings, and sculpture at the Greenlease Gallery. The gallery opening will begin on Friday, Feb. 8, with an artist talk followed by a reception from 7-9 p.m. The exhibit will continue through Saturday, March 23. Johnson’s new works represent a variety of information that defines the identities of individuals of today’s contemporary culture. The works will serve as illustrations of how we currently are from an imagined futuristic point of view. Johnson demonstrates everything from plastic surgery to ergonomic shoe design in multiple media. Johnson has presented exhibits locally and nationally. Recent exhibits include “Center for the Advancement of Transmodern Awareness” in Kansas City, Mo.; “TRY II” at the Heaven Galley, Chicago; “Heartland” at the Smart Museum, Chicago; and “Slow Cooked” at Okay Mountain, Austin, Texas. Johnson earned his Master of Fine Arts from Maine College of Art in 2008, with an emphasis in studio art and critical theory. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2001. He currently lives in Kansas City, Mo. and works as a graphic designer at Grand Arts. The Greenlease Gallery is located between Van Ackeren and Sedgwick halls on the Rockhurst University campus at 54th Street and Troost Avenue. The gallery is open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday. For more information, contact Greenlease Gallery Director Anne Pearce at 816-501-4407 or at
