Youth Spring JCPRD Soccer League Deadline is Feb. 8
Feb. 8 is the deadline for signing up for the Johnson County Park and Recreation District's Spring Youth Soccer League. This program is for boys and girls who are in grades one through eight.
The league's philosophy is to enrich the youth of the community via the game of soccer while enhancing participant's social skills and team play in a fun and exciting sports environment. Our youth soccer program provides the community with a recreational soccer program for children.
The format for league play will vary based on age. Participants in grades one through four will play seven-versus-seven games consisting of two 25-minute halves and 12 players on a team. Players in grades five through eight will play eight-versus eight with 30-minute halves with 16 members on a team. Grades seven and eight will play 11 versus 11 with 35-minute halves and a total roster of 18.
The league's eight-game schedule involves games which are usually played on Saturdays or Sundays, although weeknight makeup games are possible. Play will take place beginning the weekend of March 23 for grades one through four and on the weekend of March 30 for grades five through eight. Boys and girls will be placed on separate teams. Games will take place at Thomas S. Stoll Memorial Park, 12500 W. 119th St., Overland Park, and at Stump Memorial Park, 47th and Woodland Drive, Shawnee. Games schedules will be posted at www.jcprdsoccer.com one week prior to the start date.
To find this program in the JCPRD Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under leagues, then under youth, and then sports. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “soccer.”
The cost is $75 per person for grades one through four and $80 per person for grades five through eight. A late registration fee of $20 per person will apply beginning Feb. 9.
