Legoland Kansas City holds All-Star Lego Building Challenge

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City Holds All Star LEGO Building Challenge for Kids Families are invited to Crown Center to come and watch a day of LEGO building

Kansas City, Missouri (January 17, 2013) – LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City and Crown Center are hosting the first annual All Star LEGO Building Challenge for kids on January 19th, 2013, starting at 9 a.m. in the Crown Center Atrium. 100 Applicants between the ages of 8-15 will compete for the coveted titles of Mini Model Builder Apprentice and Junior Model Builder Apprentice.

Jeremiah Boehr, LEGO Master Model Builder, will be available for interviews today to discuss the day-long competition.

Contestants will be divided into two age groups, the Mini division (ages 8-11) and the Junior division (ages 12-15). Each group will consist of two rounds, the first round being a 30 minute LEGO build and the second round being a one hour LEGO build. The Mini division will compete from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the winner announced at 1 p.m. The Junior division will compete from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with the winner announced at 5 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded for the top three builders in each category, with the first place winners being given the titles of Mini Model Builder Apprentice and Junior Model Builder Apprentice and receiving a week-long apprenticeship with Jeremiah Boehr at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City during their Spring Break. First prize will also include a $200 gift certificate to Crown Center.
