Local Physician to Receive ACOFP Family Physician of the Year Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 14, 2013) – The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians recently announced local family physician and Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences alumnus Joel M. Feder, D.O., as recipient of the 2013 Family Physician of the Year Award.

Feder was selected for his outstanding contributions to the osteopathic profession, service to his local community, and for being an outstanding role model to peers and osteopathic medical students. He will be presented the award March 21-24 during ACOFP’s 50th Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars in Las Vegas.

Feder currently practices family medicine in Overland Park, Kan. He serves as a clinical preceptor for KCUMB-College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as an adjunct faculty for the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine.

He also serves as vice president for the KCUMB Alumni Association and president of the Kansas Society of ACOFP. He is a past president of the Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine, the Overland Park Regional Medical Center medical staff, the Medical Society of Johnson/Wyandotte Counties, and the Santa Fe Trails Chapter of the Naval Reserve Association. He is also a retired captain in the U.S. Navy.

Feder joins two other distinguished KCUMB alumni as ACOFP Family Physician of the Year award recipients during the past decade. They include Ray Stowers, D.O., and Marcelina Oliva, D.O.
