Parisi Café pulls a double shot for its new menu in Leawood

New café features specialty coffee drinks, coffee cocktails and gourmet desserts

LEAWOOD, Kan. – Coffee isn’t the only menu item brewing at Parisi Café’s new location in Leawood. The new café will introduce an array of pastries and baked items, plus grab-and-go sandwiches and salads. But the most anticipated new menu item is the café entree into a limited offering of hand-crafted, cordial-style mixed drinks and wines all selected to pair with the dessert menu.

The café 's desserts, which will be modified seasonally, will include: Petit Fours, an assortment of small cakes topped with coffee butter cream, strawberry glaze and chocolate mousse with cocoa powder and praline hazelnuts. Monterossa Cheesecake, mascarpone and ricotta cheese divided by a delicate layer of sponge cake, topped with wild strawberries. Pear Tart, a fragrant short pastry base covered with almond flavored cream, topped with glazed pear halves. Limoncello Flute, a refreshing lemon gelato decorated with a limoncello swirl. Peach Ripeno, a peach sorbetto served in the natural fruit shell. Desserts will range from in price from about $5 to $.7.

Parisi Café’s team of baristas consulted with Kansas City's own mixologist and nationally-recognized Master Sommelier Doug Frost to assist in creation of the coffee cocktails as well as to select the wines served at Parisi Café Leawood. Similar to how coffees are carefully selected for particular pairing or taste, it was important to ensure the wines were selected for their culinary pairings as well.

The specialty cocktails, which will also alter seasonally, will include: Parisi’tini, Parisi's twist on the coffee martini! Combine Samagon, a splash of mocha sauce and a seasonal single origin coffee brewed toddy style and serve with a dollop of whipped cream. The Lemon 75, a sparkling sipper with house-made lemon syrup, Bombay Gin and a touch of sparkling soda. Dark n' Stormy, Gosling’s Dark Rum combined with house-made ginger syrup and a touch of lime. House selections of red and white wines will also be available. Cocktails and wines will range in price from about $7 to $15.

Of course, the most popular items at the café will continue to be the signature hand-brewed, barista-prepared coffee by the cup, espresso drinks and iced coffees all featuring Parisi's own locally-roasted coffee sourced from around the world. The cafe is also known for its variety of well-liked artisan teas.

“We've spoken with the office tenants in and around Park Place and understand their excitement for a specialty local coffee shop to open. We're pleased we can service these customers. And in addition, we understand that there's a niche for an evening crowd of diners who are looking for a nice coffee and dessert cafe following dinner or the movies. Now that we serve wine and cocktails in addition to our coffee, Parisi Café can be that comfortable community gathering spot in the evenings as well as the daytime,” said Scott Presnell, director of marketing for Parisi Coffee.

The new 2,000-square-foot cafe is located at 5245 W. 116th Place at Park Place near the development’s south parking garage and breezeway. The café will be open to service customers later in the evenings. Store hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.

Similar in interior design to the Union Station location but somewhat larger, the new Parisi Café Leawood will also include outdoor sidewalk seating and covered seating in Park Places’ south breezeway. Garage parking as well as limited street parking will be available for Parisi Café customers.
