JAZZ ON THE LAKE VII presents REACH FOR THE STARS: IMAGINATION DESTINATION @ THE LIBRARY
The Bonner Springs City Library Board will host the seventh Jazz on the Lake fund-raising event on February 16, 2013, to support a series of arts and sciences programming for children and youth at the library.
Library supporters, Bonner Springs area residents and music lovers will gather at the historic Lake of the Forest Clubhouse to enjoy dinner and musical entertainment. Ross’s Catering will provide a dinner of prime rib or chicken, and the Kicks Band will perform jazz music for dancing. The evening also will include live and silent auctions.
“The theme for this year’s event is ‘Reach for the Stars: Imagination Destination @ the Library,’ ” said Vicky Wheeler, Library Board chairperson. “Money raised from this event will enable us to partner with Kansas City-based arts and science organizations in order to continue to support a series of exciting educational and cultural programs for children and youth at the library. These programs enrich young people in our community with opportunities to experience the arts and sciences at a time when budgets are tight everywhere.”
Previous Jazz on the Lake events have raised over $50,000 and provided money for the library’s children’s collection, its music collection, home-bound delivery services, an international collection, and the building fund for the new library, which opened in 2009. The last event launched the current Imagination Destination program, which has been a huge success.
Tickets cost $45 a person and are available at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton, Bonner Springs, Kansas. Special contributions also are being sought for the event. Special contributors will be listed in the evening’s program, receive recognition in the local newspaper and be recognized on a permanent plaque in the library.
For more information about tickets, event sponsorship or donations for the auction, contact Kim Beets, 913-441-2665 or email@example.com, or Vicky Wheeler, 913-488-4115.
