St. Louis Blues alumni take on University of Missouri at Indepence arena

INDEPENDENCE, MO. (December 21, 2012) – Independence Events Center announced Friday an unprecedented hockey match up will take on Friday, January 18 at 7:05 p.m. when the University of Missouri’s Mizzou Hockey takes on the St. Louis Blues Alumni Hockey Association in an exhibition hockey battle like no other. The “2013 MO HOCKEY SHOWDOWN” presented by Silverstein Eye Centers takes the collegiate Hockey Border Showdown of years past to a whole new level of athletic competition. This year’s showdown at the events center will give Missouri hockey fans the opportunity to see some of the best former NHL players in Missouri history as they challenge the University of Missouri’s Mizzou Hockey on the ice. Scheduled St. Louis Blues Alumni players include Bruce Affleck, Jon Casey, Darren Pang, Larry Patey, Bob Plager, Jamie Rivers, Tom Tilley, Tony Twist, John Wensink and Terry Yake. Additional announcements, updates and news regarding players and coaching staff participating in the “2013 MO HOCKEY SHOWDOWN” as well as details about a post-game jersey auction event will be released in upcoming weeks.

Tickets start at only $20 and go on sale Friday, December 21 at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased through and at the Silverstein Eye Centers Box Office at Independence Events Center (open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). A portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the St. Louis Blues Alumni Association and the University of Missouri Men’s Hockey Club. The Independence Events Center strongly recommends that fans procure their tickets early for what promises to be one of the most exciting events of the 2013 hockey season.
