Missouri Contemporary Ballet performs at New York Conference

Missouri Contemporary Ballet (MCB) will be performing for a second time at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) Conference 2013 in New York, New York. MCB will be performing as a Boutique Roster Artist with Jodi Kaplan and Associates’ Booking Dance Showcases at Lincoln Center. The conference takes place January 11th-15th, 2012 at the Hilton New York. The Booking Dance Showcases are being presented at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center on Broadway at 60th Street, New York City.

APAP is a global performing arts marketplace and conference for artists of all genres. The conference is focused on discovering and embracing the arts community and how to most effectively ensure that all people have an opportunity to experience the power of live performance. “This year, APAP NYC – the most anticipated international convening of the performing arts field – will challenge us to break out of the norm and explore what’s possible in our work. The conference will ignite discussion about the impact we can make in our own businesses, in the arts industry and in our communities.” (www.apapnyc.org)

MCB is performing two pieces at APAP. The first is '1000 Details', choreographed by Artistic/Executive Director Karen Mareck Grundy. This piece premiered in MCB’s 2012 fall show, THIRST at Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts. Choreographed on the six company members, Grundy wanted to create a piece that was “just movement for movement’s sake.” Evident by its title, this powerful work is fast paced and extremely detail oriented, set to music from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo written by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

The second piece is 'minore al maggiore', choreographed by John-Mark Owen. This piece also premiered in THIRST. A balletic exploration of sculptures compelled by a musical narrative, this piece explores what can come from one sculptural moment. Owen charges raw human emotions through various perspectives on states of being, finishing the ballet with a tender pas de duex that is optimistic and ethereal.

MCB is performing these pieces in the Booking Dance Showcases at Lincoln Center on Friday, January 11th at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center on Broadway at 60th Street, New York City. They are scheduled to perform at 6:35pm and 8:55pm.

Tickets will be on sale to the public for $10 general seating and $50 VIP seating. They can be purchased through the Jazz at Lincoln Center box office, 212-721-6500.
