SSM Home Care Receives Top Awards

December 14 - SSM Home Care at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Missouri today announced that it has been named to the Top 100 of the 2012 HomeCare Elite™, a compilation of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. SSM Home Care’s Jefferson City and Mt. Vernon branches also received “Top Home Health Agency” designation.

“This is a top honor for SSM Home Care in Maryville and the wonderful community we serve,” says Alison Ruehl, President, SSM Home Care. “It is a testament to our dedicated staff and caregivers, who go the extra mile each and every day for our patients. We are so pleased to see their diligence and caring recognized by a prestigious group like HomeCare Elite.”

The HomeCare Elite identifies the top 25 percent of agencies and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, process measure implementation, patient experience (Home Health CAHPS), quality improvement, and financial performance.

In a year marked with achievement awards, SSM Home Care, a part of SSM Health Care, has also been named a recipient of the 2012 Missouri Quality Award (MQA). The MQA, modeled after the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, is one of the premier state quality programs which honor excellence in such areas as organizational performance, leadership, customer/patient service and satisfaction. Only two organizations received MQA awards this year from the Excellence in Missouri Foundation in Jefferson City. SSM Home Care is the first Home Care agency to win the award.

For residents of Maryville and its surrounding communities these awards mean that families can be sure they will receive quality care for their family members who need home care. “Finding outstanding caregivers to provide home health services can be stressful, and we hope these independent assessments of our capabilities help provide a sense of security that their loved ones are receiving truly exceptional care,” says Debbie Herring, Branch Manager of Home Care at St. Francis.

“The 2012 HomeCare Elite winners demonstrate a commitment to providing patient-centered care and serving as leaders in the home health community,” said Susan L. Henricks, President and COO of National Research Corporation, the parent company of OCS HomeCare. “Their success offers data-driven proof of being well-managed and high quality care providers to hospitals, managed care organizations, ACOs, and other potential referral partners across the healthcare continuum,” “We congratulate SSM St. Franics Hospital on being one of the top 100 home care agencies in the country.”

“The HomeCare Elite recognition continues to gain importance given the increased regulatory mandates and the threat of shrinking reimbursement revenue. Home health agencies that have earned recognition among the HomeCare Elite demonstrated that they not only can adapt to an evolving marketplace but continue to excel in clinical, patient experience, quality improvement, and financial outcomes,” said Marci Heydt, Product Manager for the post-acute care business group of DecisionHealth.

The HomeCare Elite is the only performance recognition of its kind in the home health profession. The 2012 HomeCare Elite is co-sponsored by National Research Corporation (also known as OCS HomeCare), the leading provider of cross-continuum healthcare metrics and analytics, and DecisionHealth, the publisher of the industry’s most respected independent newsletter Home Health Line. The data used for this analysis were compiled from publicly available information.
