Jan. 4 is deadline for Hound of Baskervilles Day Trip on Jan. 30

Beat the winter blahs with a hilarious play on a classic Sherlock Holmes novel during a late January day trip being planned by the 50 Plus Department of the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

The Hound of the Baskervilles is the name of this trip, which takes its name from the play of the same name at the American Heartland Theater. This adaption of the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story is full of adventure, physical humor, and non-stop laughs. An ancient family curse, a spectral hound, and a deranged killer on the loose lead Holmes and Dr. Watson to the countryside where all kinds of mayhem ensues. Lunch is at the Golden Ox, a well-known steakhouse that has been serving Kansas City for more than 60 years. Jan. 4 has been set as the signup deadline for this trip. Participants will travel by motorcoach and enjoy this program in downtown Kansas City.

To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under travel. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keyword “day trip.”

The bus will leave Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch, Merriam, at 10:30 p.m. and participants will get back to Antioch Park by 4:30 p.m. The cost, including transportation a show ticket, and lunch, is $55 per person.

While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in this program are invited to call (913) 236-1246, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.
