Overland Park Garden Club wins 3 National Awards

The Gardeners of America/Men’s Garden Clubs of America is please to announce that the Overland Park Chapter is the recipient of three national awards. The awards are: 1.The Woodson K. Jones Memorial, in recognition of projects and outstanding service to the community and TGOA/MGCA. 2.The Spade Club Award, in recognition of the chapter having the most members who recruited two or more new members in 2011. 3.The Trowel Club Award, in recognition of the chapter having the most Spade winners who had their recruits renew for a second year.

The Awards were announced at the National Directors meeting held in Ft. Wayne Ind., on October 20-21. The Awards will be presented to the chapter members at their December meeting by National 3rd Vice President Karen L. Clark.

The Overland Park Gardeners of America chapter meets on the second Monday every month at the Colonial Church, 71st & Mission Rd. in Prairie Village KS. The December 10th, Holiday Celebration will begin at 6 PM with hors d’oeuvres & desserts. Program will be The Jazz Band. Visitors always welcome. The mission of TGOA/MGCA is to promote gardening education and related environmental issues to its membership and the gardening public through charitable, educational and scientific means. Programs include Gardening from the Heart for special needs populations, Youth Gardening for children and Scholarships for college horticultural students.
