Love in the Afternoon programs for 50 Plus feature great music and cuisine on Dec. 4, 10, & 12

Three programs of fine cuisine and exceptional music are planned during December as part of a series of lunch programs being offered by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District's 50 Plus Department.

The events are called Love in the Afternoon. All programs begin at noon. The first December program will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501 W. 137th St., Overland Park. Another program will take place on Monday, Dec. 10, at Shawnee Town Hall, 22602 W. 57th, Shawnee, and a the third will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park.

To find these programs in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under 50 Plus and then under special events. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords "musical entertainment.”

The cost for each two-hour program, including lunch and a show, is $12 per ticket. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling Shawnee Heartland Assisted Living at (913) 248-6688.

While the JCPRD's 50 Plus programs are primarily for people who are age 50 or older, interested parties who have not yet reached that magic age may still be able to attend. Persons 18 and older who are interested in a 50 Plus class are invited to call the District's Registration Department at (913) 831-3359, and if space is available without forfeiting the place of a person over 50, their registration can be taken.

The JCPRD's Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For updated program listings, visit the District's website at www.jcprd.com.
