Next Cool Kids Kindness Club for ages 6-9 set for Dec. 8

Cool Kids Kindness Club is the name of a pet education program offered for ages six through nine by the Johnson County Park & Recreation District.

Participants will learn why kindness is cool as they discuss topics like animal body language, humane pet education, the importance of being kind with an anti-bullying message, and responsible pet ownership. While the emphasis is on dogs, many of the concepts and topics will apply to other pets as well. The program includes an activity to help a shelter animal and participants will meet a really cool pet and watch a video. There will also be a treat for the humans. To find this program in the JCPRD’s Activities catalog and online listings, browse first under youth and then under hobbies & special interests. In the catalog and when using the website’s advanced search, look for the keywords “pet education.”

Because different topics are be discussed at each session, even past participants are welcome to attend the final class offering. This program will take place at 10 a.m. on a Saturday at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood. The cost for one 90-min session is $8 for Johnson County residents or $9 for nonresidents. A discount is also offered if two children from the same family sign up, making the program $4 for the second child for Johnson County residents or $5 for the second child for nonresidents.

The JCPRD’s Activities catalog, with information and a registration form, is available for pickup at all Johnson County Library branches. For more information or to register, call (913) 831-3359. To register online and for updated program listings, visit the District’s website at
