Kansas City Dentist Elected 2012-2013 Missouri Dental Association President-Elect

Dr. Merle Nunemaker, a general dentist in Kansas City, has been elected as the 2012-13 President-Elect of the Missouri Dental Association (MDA). The term began following the Association’s annual House of Delegates meeting, November 2-3 in Jefferson City.

Dr. Nunemaker is a 1977 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry (UMKC). During his 26 years of membership in the MDA, Dr. Nunemaker has been involved in organized dentistry in numerous ways. He has attended the American Dental Association (ADA) Washington Leadership Conference the past 5 years; served as delegate at the MDA House of Delegates; is the former Legislative and Regulatory Committee Chair of the MDA; past president of Greater Kansas City Dental Society; presently serving as a clinical adjunct professor at UMKC School of Dentistry and is active in his community.

Dr. Nunemaker is a dedicated dentist whose focus is on the overall well-being of his patients and the dental profession. The MDA congratulates Dr. Nunemaker on his new officer position and thanks him for his continued service to the public and to organized dentistry.

The House of Delegates is the supreme authority of the MDA, and as such speaks for the approximate 2,200 member dentists statewide, representing all disciplines of dentistry. Among other business at the annual event, delegates bring forward and vote on resolutions, determine annual dues, elect Association officers and honor award recipients. Founded in 1865, the MDA is a non-profit, professional organization that is a state component of a tripartite association where its members belong to the American Dental Association and their local component society. Primary activities include legislative representation, continuing education, dental health and numerous membership benefits including professional services and insurance programs.
