Price Chopper upgrades popular fuel program

(Prairie Village, Kan.)…The hundreds of thousands of Kansas Citians who save money on fuel with the Price Chopper Fuel REWARDS program will now see even bigger fuel savings printed out on their grocery receipts. Price Chopper has beefed up the Fuel REWARDS program with Fuel Plus. Thanks to this addition, shoppers are earning $.50, $.60 or even higher per-gallon rewards during one shopping trip, which they can redeem on fuel at QuikTrip.

Price Chopper has partnered with dozens of vendors and manufacturers on Fuel Plus, allowing the locally-owned grocer to mark hundreds of qualifying items all over the store with the Fuel Plus symbol. Qualifying products will rotate in and out every few weeks, and stores will have current qualifying product lists available to make the programs as convenient as possible.

“In the current Fuel Plus program period, we have several items that will earn customers as high as a $.10/gallon reward, and we anticipate those per-item rewards will most likely increase as the program continues,” says Casie Broker, Director of Marketing, Price Chopper. “Since there’s no limit on the amount of qualifying products customers can buy, coupled with the fact that participants also earn fuel rewards based on their overall shopping trip spend, we’re seeing customers leave our store earning as much as $.70 or $.80 off per gallon. The low prices in our store combined with the reward redemption at the gas pump can make a substantial financial impact on a Kansas City family.”

More than 470,000 Price Chopper REWARDS cardholders have participated in the Fuel REWARDS program since it launched in 2010. For more than two years, participants have been able to earn $.05/gallon for every $50 they spend on qualified purchases during a single visit to any Price Chopper store. In addition to Fuel Plus, Price Chopper has added value to Fuel REWARDS over the past two years by introducing a pharmacy fuel rewards component, and an annual $.25/gallon bonus reward made available to veterans on Veterans Day.
