Liberty Hospital Nurses Recognized for Outstanding Service

LIBERTY, MO. (November 13, 2012) – Liberty Hospital is proud to announce that Dina Edwards, R.N., and Teddi Pruitt, BSN, have been honored by the Greater Kansas City Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
Edwards was presented with the Greater Kansas City ENA Nurse “Mentor of the Year” award, which is granted to emergency department nurses who serve as a role model and promote staff development on all levels. Edwards was nominated for her consistent willingness to help fellow staff members. She serves as a preceptor for new staff, nursing students and high school shadow students. Edwards also serves as the co-chair for the emergency department’s Interdisciplinary Partnership Council, which addresses issues between departments and provides education and information to staff. Further remarks from her nomination stated Edwards “excels at the bedside as well, always going above and beyond making sure her patients are well informed and helping other co-workers as much as possible.”
Pruitt was presented with the Greater Kansas City ENA “Rookie of the Year” award, which is granted to a registered nurse who only has been in the specialty of emergency nursing for 19 months or less. Those who nominated her had this to say, “Pruitt has demonstrated a positive attitude and willingness to learn. She treats every patient with courtesy and respect while facing adversity with grace and poise. In her short time with the emergency department, Pruitt already has become a mentor for student nurses and displays the confidence of a natural leader.” She is well-respected among her peers and that respect earned her two nominations for this award. Edwards and Pruitt were presented with their awards at the quarterly Greater Kansas City ENA meeting on October 10th. The local chapter was organized in 1998 and nurses have been given awards for demonstrating exemplary service every year since. The purpose of the Greater Kansas City chapter of the ENA is to advocate for patient safety and excellence in nursing. Liberty Hospital is proud to be represented by two women who are so well respected in their profession.
