Midtown Athletic Club open house slated Nov. 17 in Overland Park

Midtown Athletic Club, 6700 West 110th St., in Overland Park, will host an Open House from 10 am-2 pm on Saturday, Nov. 17. The event theme, “Meet the New Midtown,” celebrates a number of club improvements.

Perhaps most noteworthy is Midtown’s $300,000 investment in new, state-of-the-art fitness equipment from top names like Cybex, Octane, Life Fitness and Free Motion. The installation of dual, theatre-quality movie screens in the club’s upstairs fitness area also enhances the member experience.

Open to the public, the event invites the community to explore Midtown’s latest program offerings and facility improvements. Demonstrations of new fitness programs like TRX, ViPR training, Zumba and Pilates Reformer are planned. Visitors are also welcome to demo the latest tennis racquets using in the club’s new, tennis “hitting” lanes.

“We’re really proud of these improvements, and are anxious to reacquaint the community with all that Midtown has to offer,” says Brad Houx, interim general manager.

For those with a hearty appetite, Houx adds, there will be a free, BBQ exhibition by (Midtown member) Travis Powell and his award-winning grill team, Young Guns BBQ. Attendees can savor authentic BBQ fare, like smoked brisket, pulled pork and sausage.

In addition, everyone who brings a can of food or a non-perishable item to benefit Harvesters Community Food Network will receive a complimentary, Midtown t-shirt. Midtown will continue to collect non-perishable food items for the Kansas City-based food pantry through Nov. 31.

There is no cost to attend. For more information, call (913) 491-4116 or visit www.midtown.com/overlandpark.
