Kansas City Symphony Hosts TubaChristmas 2009 on Friday, December 4
TubaChristmas 2009 will be hosted by The Kansas City Symphony on Friday, December 4. This event will be one of 240 TubaChristmas concerts presented around the United States in tribute to the late artist/teacher William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day 1902. The TubaChristmas ensemble performs traditional Christmas carols and songs, many of which were arranged by noted American composer Alec Wilder, who ironically died on Christmas Eve, 1980. The memories of Bell and Wilder are celebrated in the annual performances of TubaChristmas groups around the nation.

"Ridiculously Reduced Christmas Carol," "The Cinderella Opera, or The Shoe Must Go On," a brand new holiday vaudeville revue
The Martin City Melodrama & Vaudeville Company announces its 120th live
original show! What does a 25-year old professional theater company do when one by one, its company members drop out of the show like flies, leaving Melodrama veterans Jeanne Beechwood and Clint Griffey as the last performers standing? The answer is A RIDICULOUSLY REDUCED CHRISTMAS CAROL!© in which Beechwood and Griffey portray all of the characters of Charles Dickens’ holiday chestnut “A Christmas Carol” (that’s 57 characters in all-we counted!).

Symphony commissions and premieres new piano concerto
“A séance for piano and orchestra" -- ghosts of music's past weave through the three movement concerto
(Kansas City) - The Kansas City Symphony will present the world premiere of Lost Souls - A Piano Concerto by Israeli composer Avner Dorman on November 20-22. Lost Souls tell the haunting story of a séance summoning ghosts of concertos past, ending in an exorcism. American Heartland Theatre stages 'I'll Be Back Before Midnight'
I’ll Be Back Before Midnight
A Spooky, Hilarious Thriller!
Written by Peter Colley
Opening AHT’s 2009-2010 Season September 11 – October 25, 2009
Kansas City, MO: Opening the 2009-2010 Season at American Heartland Theatre is the wonderfully funny and spooky production I’ll Be Back Before Midnight. Somewhere between Agatha Christie and a Hitchcock thriller, this show has audiences laughing out loud one moment and gasping in horror the next. Jan, who is recovering from a nervous breakdown, and her husband, Greg, seek solace in a remote farmhouse where she can recuperate. Things take a turn when laugh-a-minute landlord George tells them of a murder in the house and a ghost that haunts it. Soon Jan finds herself tormented by strange sounds in the night and visions of a vengeful ghost. The situation worsens when Greg’s manipulative sister arrives. Is Jan having another breakdown? Is someone trying to drive her mad? I’ll Be Back Before Midnight is a first-rate thriller and a wonderfully spooky ghost story.
