Kansas City Symphony Hosts TubaChristmas 2009 on Friday, December 4
TubaChristmas 2009 will be hosted by The Kansas City Symphony on Friday, December 4. This event will be one of 240 TubaChristmas concerts presented around the United States in tribute to the late artist/teacher William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day 1902. The TubaChristmas ensemble performs traditional Christmas carols and songs, many of which were arranged by noted American composer Alec Wilder, who ironically died on Christmas Eve, 1980. The memories of Bell and Wilder are celebrated in the annual performances of TubaChristmas groups around the nation.

Kansas City Symphony Begins Holiday Season with Handel's Messiah
(KANSAS CITY) – The Kansas City Symphony marks the beginning of the holiday season with Handel’s Messiah on Thanksgiving weekend. The Kansas City Symphony and Chorus join with the Independence Messiah Choir for this mosaic of the scriptures, which remains Handel’s most famous work. With over 400 musicians on stage, it is one of the most triumphant choral pieces ever written. Messiah is best known for its familiar “Hallelujah” chorus.

Midwest Regional Yoga Asana Championship
The 6th Annual Midwest Regional Bishnu Ghosh Yoga Asana Championship will be head on Saturday, October 10 at St. Thomas More Church and School, 11800 Holmes in Kansas City Missouri at 12:00pm.
Participants from Kansas and Missouri will competing, with the male and female winners from each state going to the National Championship in Los Angeles in February of 2010. There is also a youth division.

Massage Envy provides 46,000 massages during national event

Lenexa, KS. (Sep. 29, 2009) – Massage Envy's (www.massageenvy.com) annual signature fundraising event, Massage for the Cure, provided an unprecedented 46,680 massages and raised more than $466,000 during the nationwide event. In that one day event, ten Kansas City area Massage Envy clinics performed 670 massages across the metro and raised approximately $7,850 for the local chapter of Susan G. Komen.

Hopeful Tomorrow National Kick-A-Thon
Hopeful Tomorrow, a national children’s charity that provides tuition for underprivileged and at-risk youth to enable them to participate in martial arts programs, is gearing up for its second World Martial Arts Day on October 17, 2009. The theme for this year’s event is “Kickin’ in the USA”. Martial artists across the United States are expected to execute kicks to break the world record, which stands at more than 8.3 million kicks in one hour (Black Belt Magazine Oct 2009). Dragon Family Martial Arts Center will be joining the team this year with youth and adult members. Participants will spend the day kicking their hearts out to raise funds for the charity. Melanie is an NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer and has had a successful as career as a personal trainer in Charleston, South Carolina and Overland Park, Kansas. Melanie specializes in fitness assessment, program design and maintenance for women of all ages. Melanie will be presenting group fitness workshops designed to teach women effective exercise techniques that will jumpstart the beginning of a healthy fitness routine. She will also provide individual consultations for moms who are interested in starting a fitness plan or need nutritional guidance.
