McDowell says that “the education of our young people is indicative of a strong and vibrant society. We need to encourage the positive in today’s youth, and celebrate their individuality, while at the same time providing opportunities for reward and recognition. We don’t hear enough about those teens who silently but consistently are good students, and are involved in making their schools and communities better.” The state program is celebrating its inaugural year promoting scholastic achievement, community involvement and a healthy lifestyle.
The Kansas US Pageant is presently seeking area representatives for the annual state program. Additionally, there is a princess program available for girls 3-8 years of age.
