MCC-Longview Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members will host the chapter’s annual Hunger4Change dinner at 5:30 p.m. on November 21 to benefit Harvesters Food Network of Kansas City and OxFam International. The dinner will be held in the MCC-Longview Business building, room 103.
Through Hunge4Change, PTK members hope to educate the public on world hunger by offering a unique opportunity to experience the reality of hunger around the world. The dinner features music, entertainment, and key speakers as guests represent, randomly and proportionately, three different economic levels found across the globe and are served dinner accordingly.
Guests are asked to donate $3 or 3 canned goods per student and $5 or 5 canned goods per adult. All profits and collected food will be donated to Harvesters and OxFam International.
OxFam International is a humanitarian aid organization with the mission of finding lasting solutions to poverty and injustice. Harvesters provides food and assistance to more than 60,000 people in Kansas City each week.
PTK is the largest honor society in higher education. Students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average for eligibility. MCC-Longview’s Kappa Tau chapter hosts and supports events throughout the year with a focus on community service.
For tickets or more information on the Hunger4Change dinners, contact Casey Reid, chapter advisor, at 816-672-2298 or via e-mail at Casey.Reid@mcckc.edu.
