Black Teens Enjoy Bareboating Vacation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Kansas City, Missouri - November 12, 2009-
When her sons learned to swim while in grade school they had never heard of bareboating, Virgin Islands or catamarans. These words were not “household words” in their home or community. In fact, none of their acquaintances would put the three words together to describe a vacation of a lifetime. After all, their neighborhood landscape was not equipped with public swimming pools. Or private pools for that matter. Vacation was defined as a road trip to a relatives’ house. There it wasn’t a requirement to know how to swim, snorkel or even drive a dinghy.
Late summer her sons accompanied their mom on a less than an hour ferry ride from St Thomas USVI to Tortola BVI to occupy their floating lodging for nine days. They were greeted by others who would become their boat mates. This air conditioned, roomy, well decorated vessel offered room to sleep for 10. Music was playing through the boat’s speakers from a boat mates IPOD although AM/FM stero was also available. The grill was being prepared for the marinated fresh fish while others sautéed vegetables and prepared a terrific salad. For the duration of the trip they shared in meal preparations, boat tidy-up chores and selecting the cays, bays and islands that offered superb snorkeling, beauty and adventure.
Daily, the itinerary consisted of cruising toward an abundance of quiet and protected anchorages. Sitting on the bow’s trampoline was considered reserved seating when boaters wanted to witness the “cat” glide through the tranquilizing water.
A fun game of uno, dominoes, spades or scrabble under the star lit sky or dancing at the beachfront bar best described past times. The DVD collection of the boat mates rated pretty high for those who wanted to enjoy a good movie while eating popcorn. The teens agreed vacation has been redefined.
Looking for adventuress boatmates to share the rental of a 50 ft catamaran in Tortola British Virgin Islands June 3rd-10th, 2010(http://www.voyagecharters.com/bareboat-charters-voyage500.html). Email inquiries to 002054@msn.com or call Sharon on 816.868.6683
