Haircuts raise funds for Kitty Cat Connection

Stylists at the Revue Salon and Spa are combining haircuts and cat care on Saturday, Oct. 10.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., walk-in customers can save money on haircuts and help save cat lives at the same time.

During ``Cuts for Cats,'' haircuts at the salon are just $15. The promotion is designed to raise funds for the Kitty Cat Connection, an all-volunteer Northland nonprofit dedicated to caring for homeless, stray and abandoned cats.

Stylists Marty Serroque and John Hyatt, owners of the salon in Zona Rosa, are donating proceeds to the nonprofit. Kitty Cat Connection hopes to raise $3,000 from haircuts and from sales of cats beds and travel cases of hair products.

Revue Salon and Spa is located at 7314 N.W. 87th Terrace, next to Dillard's in Zona Rosa.

Funds will be used to provide medications, vaccinations, microchips, food, equipment and supplies. Last year, Kitty Cat Connection volunteers found homes for more than 350 cats. Also treated and neutered were some 300 feral cats -- wild cats unsuitable for adoption.

The average cost per cat is about $80.

For those who don't need a trim but still want to help, donations are accepted during the event or can be mailed to the Kitty Cat Connection at 1505 Hale Ave., Platte City, MO 64079. For more information, visit the Web site, www.kittycatconnection.org.
