Kansas City’s only Bacon Fest!

Pork has been getting a bad wrap these days and we think it’s a shame!

Kansas City, MO, August 19, 2009 – Like bacon? If you said yes, this event is for you. Bacon-Fest, a casual outdoor event is all about bacon, fun and raising money for a local charity - The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City. Bacon-Fest is being held Saturday, August 29, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at The Foundation for Reclamation, 1221 Union Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64101 in Kansas City’s West Bottoms.

Guests will enjoy live music with a special performance by Bacon Shoe, bacon demonstrations by the creators of the popular Bacon Explosion, bacon-centered food samplings by local restaurants, signature bacon cocktail, a Bacon Eating Contest, a Best Bacon Recipe Contest and each guest will get an event t-shirt.

Reservations are $30 and can be purchased at www.tribaconfest.kintera.org. Guests must be 21-years -old to attend. Questions or for photo opportunities, call 816-751-7815.

Some of the local restaurants and vendors who will be at Bacon-Fest include Wendy’s, Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City, Adam’s Rib, Boulevard Brewing Company, the creators of Bacon Explosion – BBQ Addicts, Murray’s Ice Cream, Northern Lights Pizza, and The Drop. Also, don’t forget the special performance by Bacon Shoe.

Bacon-Fest Schedule

11 a.m. – Registration/Bacon-Fest begins.

11:30 a.m. – Recipe Contest Judging begins.

12 p.m. – Bacon 101 Demonstration at BBQ Addicts/Bacon Explosion booth.

12:30 p.m. – Bacon Eating Contest

1 p.m. – Winners announced for each contest and appearance by Bacon Shoe (live band).

2 p.m. – Bacon-Fest ends
